Welcome Home
Two days ago I walked out into this:
Today, this:
The footprints might provide a clue as to why I wore my shorts home yesterday despite the fact I knew it was supposed to be about 15 F (-9 C). That fact is either (A) The cold doesn't bother me or (B) I'm too lazy to dig out appropriate outerwear. (I'd like to point out that I did put on shorts before I went outside, rather than go out in the towel I'd had wrapped around me. And why go out at all? To start the van so it would be warm when I got in it to drive to work.)

Welcome home, indeed. Sounds like you guys had a great time. Although I think my favorite story was the ass chewing back towards the beginning of the adventure. I love stories about parents who actually parent. ;) And the occasional references to beer. Mmmm....beer.

I wonder why your car needs warmed up for the 3 minute drive to work when you are capable of walking barefoot, in your skivvies, through the snow, to start the mighty minivan. It's got to take you longer to change from towel to shorts, find your keys, walk out, start and return than it does to drive to work! Sorry for the rant, it took me 2 hours to drive to work through that measly inch this morning.

Emma: Well, there was this other time, in the Disney 50's Prime Time Cafe (the waitress told us to keep our elbows off the table and things like that), during which the boys (after a long day) were giving me a hard time about who would sit where. One of them tried to make a bargain with me and I turned to the guy at the next table, who appeared to be a bit older than me, and said, "If I'm not mistaken, during the 50's people were quicker to spank their kids than they were to negotiate with them."
The guy said, "That's how I remember it."
I said it just for comic effect, and the other guy and I had fun with it, but the boys bent to my will anyway (probably out of fear that I'd tell them stories about what life was like when I was little and we didn't yet have fire).

Welcome home :o) I did think that snow would be a shock when I saw it on my weather thingy the other day!

My question. Do I remember a September-or there about-statement about getting the mighty van in the garage. Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm. For the rest of the readers--pick up at the airport--most were appropriatly dressed--we picked up one in shorts. Guess which one. We did hear comments such as--he must have came from the south. I will say it was an excited group to let us know what a good time they had. I'll bet all would have turned around and went back. Well, hopefully, there is a snow day in the future and glad they are all home safe and sound.

IcyMt: It's not so much for me as it is wanting the car to warm up so condensation doesn't form in the exhaust system and rot the muffler. At least that's what I tell Mike O.
Lady P: The snow was unexpected though I knew about the cold. It looks like it'll be warming up later this week -- at least above freezing.
Granny: I'd like to take a moment to let the Internet world know that my poor choice of winter wear is not a reflection of the way I was raised.

Welcome home Delmer! I enjoyed the play-by-play posts. -Sounds like you had a really great time together, and the out-of-school thing definitely enhances your parental stature (my daughter still beams over missing most of her second week of school this year and had no adverse academic effects, a "Win/Win", I think...)
I ran out to warm up my truck this morning, but I wore socks and did an extremely quick hop from garage step to truck running board. No snow involved (yikes!).
