Snow, eh
A friend of mine from Canada recently sent me photos of a snowfall they'd had. They got three feet of the stuff.
What many American's don't realize is that snowfalls of over two feet can be so intense that they actually suck the color right out of the air leaving only shades of gray and, sometimes, Sepia.
Right now the Cleveland readers are saying, "He's right. Sometimes we get so much snow the whole city looks black and white and totally lacking anything in the way of color. To those folks I say, "Nice try. That's just Cleveland."
As some of you may know my degree is in Mass Communications. What you may not know is that, per FCC Regulation, if anyplace in the United States is predicted to get three feet or more of snow in one falling, the weatherman is allowed to say something like, "Central Ohio is currently under a winter weather advisory and can expect three fucking feet of snow by drive time tomorrow evening," without any fear of receiving a fine.

Do you recall the Blizzard of '78? While living in Michigan, we had over 28 inches in 24 hours. So, in addition of the snowfall we already had and the snow drifts, we had snow levels reached to the top of the roofline of our 1 story home. I remember my dad taking the door hinges off, removing snow by shoveling many cubic feet of snow and putting it in the basement to melt near our woodburning stove. It was a sight I will never forget. And, I was in snowmobile heaven!

Those are some Great Shots! I like the Sepia tones to them, it made me feel like I was taking a step back in time.

Michael: I remember the Blizzard. We had more snow days than we knew what to do with. One of our sales guys was in earlier this week and mentioned that the day he moved away from Michigan they had snow to the roof tops.
Greeneyezz: Of course, if you were to colorize them it would be like stepping out your front door.

I can't remember ever having snow to the rooftop, but it's been pretty close at times. The thing in Finland is that even when we get a lot of snow, life goes on like normal. No days off school just because of a lot of snow :)
Beautiful pictures! I wish we would have at least some snow over here by now, but nothing. Winters aren't the same anymore and snowless winters are just depressing.

Susie, Nancy, Greeneyezz: You all get a lot more snow that we do in Columbus ... but I'll bet we act more paralyzed by the bits we get.
