When Black Friday Comes
Happy Black Friday people.
And speaking of Black Friday — when did that become the formal name? I know it's been referred to that for a while among friends, and Steely Dan has had that kick-ass song about retailers heaving themselves from the fourteenth floor since, well, since Josie came home. But how long has Black Friday been showing up in ads all over the place?
Much like Ross was the Friend whose thing was he got married over and over, a lot of the blogs I read have their things. Sara at I Love Code posts technical stuff, Dave at Blogography has his drawings and Apple whoriness, and Kazaa at Kazaa the Blank One, despite living two streets over from me, does a very good job of convincing her readers she lives in Australia.
My thing, apparently, is that I post things I've eaten. This is my Thanksgiving plate:
What is very sad is that my phone, in the available light, didn't capture all the colors. In there you've got some Turkey (breast, thigh, and wing ... I chose the wing for the crunchy-skin), sweet potatoes, broccoli-something, dressing, a small bit of mashed potatoes, and a smidge of gravy. I'm not one of those freaks who insists their food doesn't touch (it touches in your belly, people!) so I lump it all together.
I wish the picture looked nicer. It doesn't do my mom's cooking justice.
I'll continue the Thanksgiving post later today.
Be sure to come back to read about my bicycle trip.

I can't have my food touching! Once it's in the belly, I don't see it so that's OK. I also eat one thing at a time then move on to the next. I know, I'm weird.
BIKE? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You will return with snotsicles!

That meal looks...ummm...delicious! Well, I'm sure it did before you attacked it anyway!
Was there any pumpkin pie? Isn't that what you're supposed to have?

Vegetarians of the world are resisting the urge to hurl just now.

I never knew of Black Friday until very recently... and now that I know what it is, I HATE IT! *grins*...
I had to work on Thanksgiving, so no Turkey delights for me. I also had to work today, which may be what spawned my newly discovered hate of Black Friday! (I work in a restaraunt/retail shop). Both days were wall to wall chaos.
Interesting thing... posting your food. I've heard of posting recipes, but pictures of your plates is a unique twist!

I don't do Black Friday. I do Buy Nothing Day instead. This year, I celebrated by walking the dog twice and finishing NaNoWriMo.

Wow, I think your pictures just plain sucks. No better way to say it then that :p
I'm sure it looked much better than that and tasted even better. My dinner was quite delicious!

Nancy: My ex wife suffered from the same affliction, though I'd be she'd say suffering through being married to me was harder on her.
Lady P: The picture doesn't do it justice. Someone pointed out that cranberries would have made it look better. And yes, there was pie ... lots of it.
Dave2: My poor photography skills may have many meat eaters heading for the trash can.
Sparky: Yikes. Working on the biggest (one of the biggest?) shopping day(s) of the year might have killed a lesser person.
Emma: I did 'play basketball with old friends' day. (And now I'm in recovery.) Congrats on the NaMoWriMo finish.
Sara: If only I could have captured the essence of the sweet potatoes the photo would have looked a lot better. :-)

Juste un petit coucou : je n'ai pas tout compris sauf que la photo ne rendait pas justice à la cuisine de ta maman ... rha la la les garçons avec La Cuisine de leur Maman c'est quelque chose !

Marie: Even the best photographer would have a hard time taking a photo that gives my mother's cooking the credit it deserves. I never stood a chance.

So Kazza doesn't live in Sydney? I'm shocked!
But what a wonderful idea. Any of us could create a personality and pretend to be anything. That's fiction, of course, but quite a skill to achieve and make it interesting.

Actually, Kazaa is an Aussie. I needed someone to 'pick' on and chose her this time. (And I was setting myself up for Clarifications and Aplifications: Two)
