Williamsburg Photo Recap

For fun, and as an experiment, I've uploaded the few photos I took to Picasa's Web Album.

Williamsburg

A few of the photos are below as well.

This is a drawing my mother did. It's framed behind glass and I got glare from the flash.
I put my finger over the flash before I took this shot and it sort of looks like the light in the lighthouse has burst into flames.
In Ohio when you see a sign on the interstate indicating that gas is available at the next exit you'll typically find that the gas station is right at the bottom of the exit ramp. This doesn't hold true in Virginia. We had to drive a couple of miles after we got off the interstate but the station was really sort of cute. Maybe something more manly than 'cute.' Anyway, it reminded me of days gone by. Each pump is for a different grade of gasoline and you flip a lever (from where the pump handle sits) to start the pump and the store the pumps sat in front of had an old-time feel. I know … it's an odd thing to get excited about. I mailed a post card from that mailbox.

Reminds me of going Chatham Ontario, about an hour into Canada from Detroit. We got gas at a service station, with actual bays, with cars being worked on. Also along the freeway were the old simple wooden posts with cable strung between them for guardrails. It was like going bake in time.

I'd forgotten all about those guardrails. And cars in bays ... don't the Canadians realize you can make a lot more money selling chips and beer than using valuable space for working on cars?
